New Service: S.A.F.E.R.
The Prevention Department rolled out a new service this week, called S.A.F.E.R. (Syringe Access for Everyone, Really). Rather than the more traditional methods of syringe access where injection-drug users visit a stationary access location, OHL’s innovative and one-of-a-kind mobile program will bring critical and much-needed services directly to the communities that need them most. OHL’s Prevention Department will integrate S.A.F.E.R into the agency’s existing wraparound services, currently implemented throughout the city via its mobile unit. Mobile services offered via S.A.F.E.R will be disposal of used syringes, distribution of new, sterile syringes and neighborhood syringe clean ups. This is in addition to the mobile services already offered via iPrevent, such as HIV/Hep C testing, CHC appointment setting, Medicaid enrollment and much more! These services were even featured on WGNO News With A Twist! As always, we are excited to keep expanding our services to the community!
