As OHL's original service site, with over 50 years of service to the New Orleans area, programs in this region offers OHL's full continuum of care, including prevention, intervention, detox, inpatient and outpatient residential care, primary care, and transitional/supportive housing. Our professional and dedicated staff of counselors and therapists are committed to providing a safe, supportive and caring atmosphere across all programs.

The Sobering Center is a public safety measure, designed to care for individuals identified as publicly intoxicated. Transported either by the Sobering Center transportation van or NOPD, EMS or other drop-off, inebriated individuals stay an average of 4-8 hours at the facility under the care of trained staff until they are cleared for release under their own cognition.

OHL’s Short-Term Residential Inpatient Program serves men and women 18 years of age and older. It is an approximately 28-day long residential drug rehabilitation program that intensively focuses on the most basic aspects of drug rehab treatment, such as abstinence from drug abuse, life skills building, and recovery tools.

OHL's Community Health Center is a patient-centered medical home providing primary care that is comprehensive, team-based, coordinated, accessible, and focused on quality and safety. The mission is to provide comprehensive primary care services to low-income, high-risk, and underserved individuals regardless of ability to pay.

OHL’s Housing Programs focus on moving individuals to stable, secure housing, and keeping these individuals housed and engaged in case management. OHL provides housing and supportive services to chronically homeless individuals (as referred to by UNITY of Greater New Orleans). OHL also offers Sober Living Housing for graduates of its residential inpatient programs.

OHL's Low Barrier Shelter in New Orleans offers immediate, no-cost housing for individuals experiencing homelessness. Our shelter removes common barriers, providing a safe place to sleep and basic amenities without requiring extensive documentation or sobriety.

OHL offers medically supported detox services to individuals 18 or older suffering from addiction and withdrawal. Beds are available for individuals who cannot afford private detox and rehab, but who do not need the high level of care of a hospital-based detox. Basic oral medications are used.

OHL offers an Intensive Outpatient Program where residents live on-site at the residential facility while in treatment for 3 to 6 months. While in the program, clients are able to reside in a safe and sober living environment while developing life skills that enable them to gain employment and a strong support system.

OHL's 340B pharmacy provides medications at deeply discounted rates for patients of our Community Health Center (CHC). The OHL Pharmacy accepts self-pay, Medicare, & Louisiana Medicaid. Additionally, if a client cannot wait for their medications, medications can be delivered to their residence for free.

OHL’s prevention and outreach department focuses on education,

intervention and access to services. Activities include educational

interventions, distributing condoms and safer sex information, testing for Hepatitis C and HIV, and making referrals to supportive services.​
